School holidays started a little less than a month ago and it is time for a well-deserved and long break. Many friends around me have already graduated and are on their graduation trip to other countries and what not. Just came back from NTU OGEM Prelude trip to Peking University in Beijing. It was a short two weeks trip with loads of gains and fun. The people there are great. The weather and the food? Not so great. Opened my eyes to the capital of China. Cleared some misconceptions I have of PRC people (though not by much, heh). Too lazy to post any pictures or anything of that sort. I just like to type loads of stuff as the sound that the mechanical keyboard makes when I am typing really fast is just music to my ears.
A lot of things happened during the two weeks and sometimes I wonder if I am awake or still stuck in that deep slumber. Ahhh dreams...

Revived (Artificial Intelligence)
So a few days ago (it was a Saturday) while I was moving my stuff from school back home (because I stayed in a school hostel for 2 semesters), I had to move my computer (desktop) along. (Yes I know, I brought my whole desktop to the hostel when I moved in as I could not bear to live without a computer/wife). After moving the computer back home, I decided to get it all plugged in and working at the earliest moment that I could. After some time, everything was set up and ready to go but my internet was not working on the computer. I (very much later) realised that it was due to faulty wireless extenders. But since I did not know that at first, I was toying around with the plugs and cables and what not and "Boom" the lights went out. Genius me caused a power trip and I (almost) had to spend the night without fans or aircon but fortunately for me, I have an uncle who is an electrical technician who came down to fix it for me.
So comes the next morning where I was trying to get everything to work. When I pressed the power button, my computer was not responding. It breathe no signs of life and it sure got me super worried. So there I am, searching Youtube for all videos related to troubleshooting a dead computer/a computer that would not start. After much research and work, I found out that the root cause of the problem was that the Power Supply unit (PSU) was faulty. I was deeply overwhelmed and i wrote the following:
I remember the nights where I continuously kept you turned on. I remember the times where I kept you running for days. I remember the moments where I would wake up beside you almost every morning. I remember the immeasurable joy that you had given me when we were together.
Yes I know it sounds silly but that's the kind of relationship that I share with my computer (or basically most things around me but maybe not to this extend). Quickly contacted the retailer and got the contact of the supplier. Rushed down to the supplier the next morning for a one-to-one exchange since it is still under warranty. My PSU is a CoolerMaster G650M. Got a brand new heart for my dearest and I had to learn how to rewire everything from the cables to the GPU to the motherboard. After a not so tedious rewiring of my computer, I finally got it to work. Imagine if I did not managed to get it working, I would not be here ranting about me ranting about silly stuff. Rant-ception.

This is the PSU that I am talking about.
So I did a heart transplant for my computer.
Exams are these two weeks and I am more interested in my non-academic stuff (still. Apparently).
Oh and I had a Korean Exam just last evening. And exams later on as well. Welp, GG. Gosh my priorities...

Initiation
Hello to the lost souls who somehow stumbled across this blog.
My name is Roger Yong and I'm an (not-so?) ordinary Singapore guy.
My purpose of creating this blog is to document stages/events/whatever in my life that I find interesting or worthy of my time to write about. It is like writing a diary, which I have absolutely no habit of (but i guess that is going to change from now onward?). I also think that it is a good habit to write so that I can continue to improve on my command of the English Language. To add on to that, I also find typing a very fun thing to do. Probably due to all the school projects that involves shitload of typing to be done. And typing on my mechanical keyboard is so satisfying (both feel and sound wise).
Something I realised as I'm growing up is that I tend to get sentimental. It just happens. So when I feel sentimental, this blog is here to stay for me to look back at the (silly) things that I might have done or whatsoever.
Some of you might wonder and perhaps even I might wonder some time down the road why I chose my blog name as such. Well, I'm totally clueless as to where do I begin on this journey of writing (journalism not!) and what name I should be giving to this whole thing. So there's that for an explanation.
This blog will probably involve a mixture of many languages such as English, Chinese, Korean, Cantonese and whatever I've picked up along the way. Singapore is a multi-lingual country so bear with that.
Last of all, thank you for your time in reading this initial blog post.
The first step.
